Lyndsay Wasko - The Other Side of Stampede
Speedball on Stonehenge. 11" x 15”
The Other Side of Stampede a collective exhibition showing another side of our local hootin-tootin, honkey-tonking local wild western carnival that we sometimes (if not mostly) love to hate!
Built out of wagon wheels rather than old ships, we reimagine the famous Odyssean myth of the Trojan Horse as a Trojan Bronco, illustrated in the style and palette of red handkerchiefs that mimics that of black-figure pottery on ancient Greek vases. The most obvious being the rodeo with bucking broncos, but also that every year people jump the fence or sneak in to party at the stampede.
