Chantel Traub - Flower Power 2025
A significant portion of my work focuses on endangered species, and increasingly, my art practice is intertwined with my garden. While researching endangered plants, I came across the rare Western Blue Flag Iris, which is considered threatened in Alberta. I have enjoyed growing this beautiful flower in my garden, and I hope to raise awareness about the importance of protecting prairie grasslands so that this stunning species can continue to thrive in our ecosystem.
Chantel is an artist and designer currently based in Calgary; her current practice focuses on fine craft and textile design, specializing in textile printing, dyeing, and silk painting and embroidery. Using natural dyes, she creates rich hand-drawn designs with painterly techniques. She draws imagery from our environment, architecture, and history.
