Ashley Slemming - Flower Power 2025
This poster is inspired by resilience, determination, and wit, and nature's reminders to keep on keepin' on. Flowering trees in particular have their own wit, charm, and strength, and this poster's play on words was a fun way to celebrate both the beauty of the dogwood and the beauty of a good pun.
"I GOT THAT DOG IN ME" as a silly slang phrase for having a strong, determined, and resilient spirit with the drive to succeed and overcome challenges - felt like a funny way to use humour to nod to the dogwood, the strength of trees, and the resiliency that their flowering branches show us every day.
Ash Slemming completed a BFA in Print Media in 2017 at AUArts. Their art practice aims to inspire joy, play, and silliness, while exploring nature and the human experience.
